I’m always on the lookout for new podcasts, especially ones that are relevant to social studies teachers.
If you’re looking for some AMAZING, fascinating history podcasts to listen to while making the daily commute to school, this post is for you!
Please note that I am not affiliated with any of the following podcasts. I just enjoy listening to them and I think you will too 🙂
Ben Franklin’s World
This podcast covers early American history, not just Benjamin Franklin.
I’ve learned so much history listening to this podcast. Some of my favorite episodes have been about smuggling, pirates, and events of the American Revolution.
Definitely check it out!
Conversations at the Washington Library
This podcast is produced by historians at the Fred W. Smith National Library for the Study of George Washington at Mount Vernon.
They discuss fascinating topics related to George Washington and early American history.
Some of my favorite episodes have been about the women in Washington’s life along with multiple aspects of enslavement.
Your Most Obedient and Humble Servant
I love listening to this podcast because it discusses 18th and 19th Century women’s letters.
These are letters that don’t get as much attention as they should.
You will learn about history, women’s issues, social issues, and early American culture through these amazing, carefully researched letters and discussions.
History that Doesn’t Suck with Professor Greg Jackson
Definitely check out this podcast! Professor Jackson is an amazing storyteller.
He kicks off each episode with a fascinating historical story.
Another great thing about this podcast is that episodes run in chronological order.
The very first episode is one of my favorite stories from history – How a Young, Inexperienced George Washington Started the French and Indian War.
