Am I the only teacher who loves shopping for back to school?
I get super excited when 4th of July passes and Target starts to put out school supplies.
I created a shopping list to help you prepare for the first week of fifth grade!
I put the list in text format and I supplied links to the products on Amazon for your convenience.

- Large or small desk calendar – I prefer a large desk calendar so that I can write on top of it easily and it covers a good part of my desk. The smaller desk calendars are good for teachers who have a smaller desk.
- Flair pens – These are the best pens for grading and they come in pretty colors!
- Name tags – This may seem babyish to some teachers but I like to put name tags on my 5th graders for the first two weeks of school. This helps me to learn my students’ names so much faster.
- 4 Drawer Organizer – I use this organizer to hold pencils, paper, glue bottles, and glue sticks because we use those items as community supplies.
- Clipboard – I use my clipboard often to walk around with a grading sheet and record students’ grades immediately. I also use my clipboard to make notes when I’m away from my desk.
- Super Sticky Post-Its – I will admit that I have a bit of an obsession with post-it notes. I use them to make notes on students’ desks, to-do lists for me, notes for my door, and so much more.
- EZ Grader – Even with all of the technology around, my EZ Grader is so handy and helps me to quickly figure percentages when grading papers.
- Magnets – Don’t tape things to your white board or filing cabinet. Use a magnet to avoid a sticky mess. Be sure to get strong magnets. The weak ones will not hold more than a single sheet of paper.
- Binder Clips – I loooove using binder clips for large sets of papers, combining multiple sets of papers, and just staying organized in general.
- Stampers – There will be times when you don’t want to grade a set of papers and it’s super easy to just stamp them with a “Great Job!” or a thumbs up. I also use stampers when I walk around and monitor students’ journal entries and interactive notebook charts.
