If you’ve never checked out the amazing social studies resources from Colonial Williamsburg, you are seriously missing out! They recently made their video collection free to the public. All you have to do is create a free user account. It takes about 30 seconds. This link will take you to the sign-in page: http://resourcelibrary.history.org/

Colonial Williamsburg offers primary sources and lesson plans in their resource library. However, the videos are an exciting find for 4th to 8th grade social studies teachers. The videos cover slavery, founding fathers, music, women in the Revolution, and many more topics in an engaging way.

I plan to do a blog post soon on the ways I use these free videos in my classroom. Enjoy!

Disclaimer: I am in no way affiliated with Colonial Williamsburg. I loved every minute of my time there while I attended the teacher’s institute in 2008. If you ever have a chance to visit Colonial Williamsburg, you will love it! Promise!

  • Hi Jennifer,
Did you ever post a followup on how you teach Williamsburg? Not sure if I missed it in in my search. I am looking for a timeline/specific topics of interest I should cover in what is such a wide thematic unit. I don’t have time for it all!
I have purchased several of your resources from TPT including 13 colonies, Your enthusiasm comes through in each and every lesson that is provided and each one hits so many targets. The kids are engaged and that makes me a happy teacher. Thank you so much.
