So, you’re not jazzed about going back to school in January? I get it! I’m not either! Apart from the usual holiday fun and events, I have enjoyed the opportunity to be home with my two littles. Nearly every day, I have held my (nearly) two year old little guy while he slept for his nap, which allowed me to binge on Netflix a bit. I’ve cherished my “three”nager’s ballerina dances and mermaid dress-up parties. She really does think she could turn into a mermaid at any moment. We’ve gotten into the habit of staying up late and sleeping until 9:30. It is really going to rock their (and my) world when I have to go back to work on Tuesday.
Like I do every year, about halfway through Winter Break, I started to think of things I could do that would keep me at home. However, I always reach the same conclusion… I would miss the classroom too much. As much as it tears me up to leave my little ones, I know they are in good hands with my daycare lady.
If you feel the same way, I recommend making a list of three things you are looking forward to when you get back to work. For me, I will be teaching the American Revolution, one of my very favorite history topics. I am also looking forward to getting back into my planning, grading, recording routine. I’m one of those weirdos that actually likes the paperwork side of teaching. I never take anything home. Check out this post if you’d like to know how I manage that: GO HOME ON TIME! Finally, I really do miss my students. I have an interesting mix of personalities in my classroom this year. There are a few kids that I truly worry about and I want them to come back to school ASAP so that I know they’re okay.
So, no, nothing compares to being home with your sweet babies but you do have some things to look forward to and enjoy. Remember, it’s only 4 months until summer break! We can do this!
Please comment on this post and tell me the three things you are most looking forward to when you return to your classroom!
